En Plein Air with Friends

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful experience of creating artwork en plein air with two wonderful ladies! Lynn Adams is an amazing jewelry designer, metal smith & enamallist from Lyme, NH. She is one of the founders of Collective – the Art of Craft in Woodstock, VT. We met last year at the VINS en Plein Air Festival and have since become art friends. Jo Tate is a wonderful watercolor artist & teacher. She has had shows all over the Upper Valley. This was our first time meeting, and we became fast friends.

We met at The Song Garden in Cornish, NH. This is the perfect location to create art, it’s peaceful atmosphere is perfect for an artist. We enjoyed time in the tea house, chatting and getting to know one another better. I tried to take in as much information as I could. Of course I asked advice on being an artist and with both their extensive experience in the art world I listened to everything they told me.

After some time in the sun sketching and painting we had a nice lunch on a little deck surrounded and shaded by birch trees. We discussed our work and did a sort of show and tell. I love being surrounded by artists and learning from one another. I am incredibly lucky to have such wonderful talented friends. I recommend getting together with other artists, it will fuel your creative mind.
